Last Minute Travel Five-day packages - offering three full days of fishing out of Colsn and/or Isla Grande - include an overnight stay in Panama City the day of arrival and the evening before departure as necessary. The price of $1,000 per person (based on a party of four) includes all ground transportation, meals, hotels, tackle and bait. Package trips of a full week offer five fishing days starting from Isla Grande and going on into the San Blas Islands. The Lamas expect to have a 16-foot center-console ready next season for anglers to fish San Blas estuaries and reefs as well as blue water on the big boat.

Travel Insurance Your passport and a tourist card, which I was able to purchase at the Miami airport for $5. Bring fly tackle and/or very light tackle if you enjoy it. You'll find ample targets and opportunities to use such gear. Bring any trolling plugs you favor, but the boat will have plenty. It's worth bringing plugs for casting. And, of course, bring along a good camera and plenty of film, lots to read and tons of sunscreen. Also, while the boat has some extra dive gear, your favorite mask, snorkel and fins are worth toting along. Water clarity and untouched reefs make for spectacular snorkeling.

Travel State Gov Panama uses U.S. currency; lots of $1 bills come in handy for tips all along the way.
