Us Airlines Grand Canary:

Travel Sites It's a long, long way to Grand Canary, but the beautiful island scenery and chance at big blues are well worth the 10-hour flight. Any flight to Grand Canary from the United States will run through Madrid, Spain, which is a 2.5-hour hop from the island. Pack your carry-on luggage light, because it's quite a hike from one end of the massive Madrid airport to the other when you have to change planes. Iberia Airlines (800-772-4642) offers daily flights from both New York and Miami to Grand Canary for around $1,000. While at first glance this may seem a bit steep, you'll make up for the extra costs with low charter rates of around $425 per day.

Discount Airfare Hotels and accommodations: Area hotels and resorts can match any taste or pocketbook, but most run around $100 a night. Although I stayed in the beautiful Hotel and Casino Santa Catalina in Las Palmas (011-34-928-243040), I'd opt to stay on the southeastern end of the island in Port Mogan, Puerto Rico or Pasito Blanco to avoid the 40-minute drive to the fishing areas.
